Arriving in Falls Creek

Resort Entry

During the snow season all visitors and residents are required to pay a Resort Entry fee to enter Falls Creek Alpine Resort. These fees don't just pay for parking. They are designated to contribute to a wide range of essential services that we all use whilst at the resort - services such as snow clearing, rubbish removal, clean water supply and sewage treatment to name a few.

Resort entry is charged per vehicle by way of a Resort Entry Permit. It doesn't matter how many people are in the car, it is just one charge per vehicle (unless you are in a vehicle with more than 12 adults. If you are staying at Falls Creek overnight you will need a Night Permit. Vehicles with a Night Permit will be parked in our Overnight Car Parking area for the duration of your stay. Our car parking staff will assist you in directing you to the right park and shuttling you to the Accommodation Transfer Terminal or your accommodation if the Village is not in Ski-in Ski-out Mode. The best way to purchase your Resort Entry Permit is by purchasing online before your visit. If you purchase 7 days prior to arrival your permit will be posted in the mail, allowing you to bypass the Ticket Box and head straight to the village. If you are travelling on a commercial Bus or Coach Service the Resort Entry fee has been factored into the cost of your ticket. If you plan on coming to Falls Creek for 7 days or more it is worth looking at a Season Permit as the best value option. https://ssl2.connectintouch.com/FCRM/Vehicles/Landing.htm

During the declared snow season, Falls Creek village is restricted for vehicle access. During periods of low snow, Guests will be permitted to enter the village under a temporary 30 minute permit to drive up to Altitude Apartments, unload luggage and drop passengers off. Vehicles must exit the village within the 30 minute timeframe. This status may apply during some Green Season events.

Accommodation Transfer Service – A.T.S

When Falls Creek is under snow the village is declared "Ski-in Ski-out" and closed to vehicles. The entrances will be closed to all vehicles and the Accommodation Transfer Service will be in operation to transport guests and their luggage to their accommodation. The A.T.S is the only way to get you and your luggage to Altitude Apartments. The ATS provides on-snow transportation through its fleet of cat-track Husky vehicles. These vehicles are heated and sealed from the elements and with ample luggage storage space mounted on the front.

The Accommodation Transfer Service Terminal is open 7 days a week:

• Monday - Thursday from 8am to 10pm • Friday from 8am to midnight • Saturday & Sunday from 8am to 10pm

For arrivals outside of these times, drivers will be directed to a temporary overnight parking area, however Accommodation Transfer will not be available.

Car Parking

Vehicles staying overnight during winter must be parked in specified overnight parking areas. Visitors must drive to the Accommodation Transfer Terminal and look for signage indicating "Overnight Parking Here". Once vehicles are at the overnight parking waiting point, a member of staff will direct them to an available overnight car park. Self-parking is not permitted.

After Hours Parking

For arrivals outside of normal operation (ie 3am), vehicles may be parked in the After-Hours parking area between the Accommodation Transfer Terminal and QT Falls Creek. This area is lit and signed. Getting to Falls Creek

By Car

Falls Creek is the closest alpine resort to Albury, an easy day’s drive from Sydney & four and a half hours drive from Melbourne. You can reach Falls Creek in a comfortable day of driving from most locations in Victoria and New South Wales.

Falls Creek offers on-mountain overnight car parking. The cost for parking is covered with the purchase of a resort entry permit, required for all vehicles entering the resort.

From Sydney or Melbourne the best way is to travel along the Hume Highway and take the turnoffs at either Wangaratta (from Melbourne) or Albury (from Sydney). For those in the sunshine state, Falls Creek is not as far as you think - it can be comfortably driven over two days along the Newell Highway with a stop-over on the way.

In winter the only approach is via Mt Beauty. Outside the snow season there is an additional approach via Omeo which is better suited to those traveling from the Gippsland region. Once you arrive in Falls Creek, follow the signs directing you to the ATS terminal where you will unload your vehicle and be directed to park your car.

Snow Chains

During the snow season it is a legal requirement that all vehicles entering the resort carry snow chains. This includes AWD and 4WD vehicles and applies from the season opening on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend through to the last day of the season.

The sheltered approach to Falls Creek means the road is not usually affected by snow and ice conditions. In most cases chains are only fit during or directly after heavy snowfall, and usually only for the final 5 - 10km. Be mindful of ice patches however as these can form with clear conditions, particularly in early morning.

Snow chains can be hired from a number of outlets in Myrtleford and Mt Beauty on your way to Falls Creek. For up to date information on chain fitting status make sure you check the snow report page on your way.

Fuel

There is no fuel available at Falls Creek so it is a good idea to fill up in Mt Beauty before driving the last leg to the resort. During summer if you are approaching from Omeo there are petrol stations there also. If driving a diesel vehicle you should use alpine mix diesel which is available from the pump at most service stations around Mt Beauty, Bright and Myrtleford.

By Bus

Coach travel is one of the most popular forms of transport for visitors not driving themselves to the snow. It is convenient, safe and takes away the hassle of factors like fitting chains and driving in snow and icy conditions. Most service providers travel direct from Melbourne but there are dedicated services from Sydney and Adelaide also with pickups at regional centres on the way. Albury is the closest airport and train station to Falls Creek and therefore acts as a regional hub for many coach services direct to the resort. Park and Ride options are available in nearby Mt Beauty via Falls Creek Coach Service. There are also dedicated Tullamarine Airport pickup services to meet flights arriving from Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Private Transfers are available throughout the winter season. Private Transfer bookings allows customers to charter their own vehicle with luggage trailer and driver, and with the flexibility to choose their own pickup and drop-off destinations and times from anywhere within Victoria and New South Wales. www.fallscreekcoachservice.com.au www.FallsBus.com.au
